Year 2 talked about the importance of being kind to everyone. We are kind in school by listening to our teacher and our friends. We are kind by helping each other and showing respect. We all like kind words spoken to us all the time so we must be kind to everyone as well.
The children in foundation thought that Kindness might be letting other children join in with their games. Mrs Norris explained that kindness was something a bit more then this and it doesn’t cost us anything to make someone happy.
We joined watching ‘Colour your world with Kindness’, the foundation children are planning on trying really hard to show kindness this week.
Year 1 enjoyed listening to the assembly on Kindness. Libby told us that she felt good when her friends were kind and let her join in with their game. Finley said that his friends made him happy as they were sharing well with him. William said that when his friends smile, he wants to smile back. Sophia had noticed Courtney at the friendship stop and she went up to her and invited her to play. Charlie said his friend was kind when he was feeling sad. Edward said if someone has fallen over he is always kind and checks that they are alright.
Year 1 agreed that being kind to each other was really important and that it makes you feel happy inside. They thought that we could colour our school with kindness by always remembering to look after others, speak politely, share, show respect, help and smile. If somebody was sad it made them feel sad too.
Year 1 are going to visit St James s church in Shirley this week and we are going to be kind and remember to smile, say thank you and write thank you letters to all the people who will look after us there.
We are also going to remember to be kind at home and at school.
Year 5 have had a conversation about the topic of kindness. The class had a discussion in pairs about someone that was kind to them during the last week before feeding back to the class. Kai O told us about how, on the recent trip to space centre, he fell asleep and the person next to him didn’t disturb him. Kai W told the class that he had experienced kindness across different year groups, with some year 6’s looking after him at lunchtime. Umar told the class that his brother gave him a nice surprise for his birthday which made him happy. Ella said that the community has been kind to her and her friends by donating things for their fundraising event. Alfie said that his brother came to help him with his homework when he was struggling. Imogen’s friends have shown kindness to her, making sure she was okay when she felt tired.
Nathan told the class that it was his family showing kindness towards him and this made him happy.
Year 3 have worked VERY hard this term being kind as much as possible. We try and be kind every morning by setting out a friend’s chair, sharing pencils, holding open doors, saying nice things to each other. Sometimes Miss Payne needs to remind us because it’s hard to remember all the time.
Its easy being kind but sometimes when people are mean it’s hard to be kind back. Sometimes at home our brothers and sisters really annoy us and we are mean to them. As we get older we are learning how to be kind no matter what.
Kindness makes our classroom and school a nice place to be.
