Year 1 had lots of lovely ideas about how we show our pets we care for them. Matilda said that she takes hoppy her rabbit out of his cage and strokes him. Elsie-Rai plays with her dog with the ball and gives him treats. Courtney says she talks to her pets. Ben plays with his dog and he barks if he is cross with him. Elliot gave his rabbit Clover carrots when she was alive. Finley said he tickles his Grandad’s dog on his tummy.
We talked about giving them a loving home by making sure their bedding is clean, they are warm and well fed but not over fed.
If our pets make a mistake we are considerate and encourage them to behave in a good way and then give them rewards and show them that we are happy with them.
Edward said we should respect our pets and look after them as we would care for ourselves and the people around us.
Year 6 really enjoyed the assembly and seeing the pictures of all the animals.
Amber thinks we should treat ourselves kindly by being happy and caring. Amber has a cat called Serephina and Amber is very caring to her and thinks this is how she should treat herself too.
We understand in Year 6 that sometimes we forget to treat ourselves kindly and with respect. It is important to try harder to have a positive attitude and to realise we are important too!
Year 6 also realise it is important to help others when they are struggling and to be kind if they make mistakes. We need to encourage and support others aswell as ourselves.
In Foundation we talked about how we can look after our pets. Eleonora said we can feed them, Chandler said we give them drinks, Isaac said we stroke them and Dylan suggested we take them for walks.
We then discussed how we can treat others, Eleonora said we can try to be kind to people and Rio said it was important to praise people just like we praise animals.
In year 2 we talked about how important pets are and how we look after them. We also talked about the importance of being kind to ourselves and others when we make a mistake. We know that as long as we try our best, mistakes are fine and part of learning.
