Charlie told me that resilience is when you never give up. He said that you have to keep going. Sebastian said you keep trying and trying and the more you try the more chance you will have of succeeding.
Year 1 thought that every cloud has a silver lining was about having a goal and not giving up on it. The more you try the more likely you are to achieve it. When we talked about the cups being half full or empty the children told me it was about being positive and being half way towards reaching your goal.
Arna had to overcome being frozen by her sister Elsa. Nemo had to overcome his fears and find his parents. Barnaby needed to change his thinking to be more positive.
When we looked at the seagulls photo, the children said that the seagull who was turned the other way shows us that it is okay to be different.
We reminded ourselves of building our learning power with Terry the tortoise who showed resilience by not giving up and how he kept on trying.
The children in Foundation are now very familiar with our BLP character Terry the Tortoise and they confidently recalled from last week’s assemblies that he likes us to try, try and try again and not to give up. We are learning that this also means resilience.
Mrs Norris talked with the children about the ‘every cloud has a silver lining..’ saying. The example she gave to the children was that when it is raining it can also mean that we might also see a rainbow. So whilst we might not be able to play out as we had thought, we could get the treat of seeing a beautiful rainbow if the sun is shining too. We will talk more about this throughout the week and try to find more examples.
The children became very excited to see some of their favourite cartoon characters on the screen. We helped each other to remember what happened in the film, ‘Finding Nemo’, and how even though it was scary for Nemo’s Dad, he kept on trying and had amazing adventures along the way and became really brave. (This is one of Mrs Turner’s favourite films!) We then got a little sidetracked and talked about how old Sea Turtles can grow to.
We look forward to meeting all our new challenges this week, with all of our friends and teachers to help us.
Year 5 says:
What is resilience?
Resilience is where even if things are tough, you keep going and don’t give up.
What does every cloud has a silver lining mean?
It means that there is always a postive side to things. You just have to keep going to find it.
Is your cup half full or half empty?
Some people say that the cup is half empty because they are thinking about the negative side of things, whereas if people say the cup if half full they are looking at the positive. In Year 5 we are a mixture of half empty and half full people.
Who were the characters in the Powerpoint who had to overcome challenges?
Kevin and Bob in the minions, Frodo, Anna and Nemo.
How did Barnaby need to change his thinking?
He was thinking negative things such as his friend moving away and hating guitar lessons so he needed to change his thinking by looking at the postive side of everything.
What do these seagulls remind us?
There is one seagul facing the wrong way and it might remind us that postive thinking is better than negative thinking thinking.
resiliense is when you never give up even though it`s hard.
every cloud has a silver lining meens that if somthing bad happens somthing good might happen
my cup is half full.
frodo from the hobbit nemo from finding nemo arnna from frozen and bob and stuert from the minions
he needed to change his bad thourts to good thourghts.
Resilience is trying your best, never giving and allways trying again. A silver lining meens everything bad has something good about it. My cup is allways half full and I try not to think about the negitives. It was Bob and Stuart from Minons, Elsa from Frozen, nemo from Finding Nemo and Frodo Bagins from Lord of the Rings.
Resilience is not giving up and truly trying your best. Every cloud has a lining it means that if you do bad thing the cloud will darken a like if you have a thunder and rain and I will love the rain.
Resilience is not thinking about bad things and think about the other side of them. Every cloud has a silver lining means that the inside of a cloud is the bad things and the silver lining is the good things about the bad things and the good thiongs are keeping the bad things stuck in the inside of a cloud.
Year 2 enjoyed our assembly today and looked and talked about the powerpoint. We discussed that everything is hard and it starts from when we are very small. All of us learnt how to walk but we all fell over lots of times too! All of us in Year 2 passed our Phonics test in Year 1 last year but all of us had to practice and learn the sounds with Mrs Parker and Mrs Rooke ALL year. In year 2 we are trying to see if we can ALL learn our 2X and 5X and 10X tables. We are about half way but we are all working hard to reach that goal.
Our Jigsaw this half term is talking about our Goals and Dreams and successes and how we have to keep going if we are going to fill our jars up.
Resilience is when you are tough and keep going even if things are hard. Mis Payne likes to say ‘The tough get going!’
We talked about ignoring things that don’t matter as they can be a distraction when going for our goals.
Even the darkest clouds have silver linings. Even the darkest days will end and a new day will start! We get a fresh start every day.
We think resilience means that it means never giving up and keep trying even when you have hurt yourself or even when you fail first time. Every cloud has a silver lining means that you look for the good in the bad. We did a class vote and most of us are half full. Frodo Baggins ,Elsa from frozen, Bob and Kevin Minions and Nemo all had to overcome problems by keep trying. We all enjoyed the assembly it taught us that by being resilient you can get through things easier.
Resilience is when you encounter a challenge and you don’t give up.
Most of us have cups that are half full. We try to think of the positives in our life and the things we have got rather than the things we haven’t got.
The characters were Elsa from Frozen, Nemo from Finding Nemo, Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings and Bob from Minions. The challenges they had to overcome were:
-Bob – not having a boss & not eating bananas.
-Frodo – he had to destroy the ring & he had to overcome loads of challenges such as leaving his friend.
-Elsa – she had dangerous powers & she had to learn how to control them.
-Anna – she was hurt.
-Nemo – he was trapped in a fish tank.
Barnaby needed to change his thinking by of the positive things in his life rather than focusing on the negative. He needed to be more resilient.
In the image, it reminds us that we are all different and that is a good thing and we should be resilient because we don’t have to be the same as others.
Resilience is the turtle on the wall

out of it.

he is upset but thinks positive
Resilience is when you don’t give up in a hard task E.G in the SATS when there is a tricky question.
Every cloud has a siver lining means when something bad has happend something good happens.
My cup is half full.
Resilience is when you have a tricky task and you struggle and you don`t give up.You try and you eventually finish the task.
Every cloud has a silver lining means that every cloud has a bit of a good cloud too it.
Nemo, Stewart and Bob,the minions,Frodo Baggins and Anna.
Barnaby changed his thoughts by making them positive.
In maths there was a tricky question and it was hard. I was resilient and solved it.
the seagulls remind me of the beach.
