  1. Year 6 says:

    A NEW YEAR

    Here are some ways in which we celebrated the start of the New Year:
    – spent time with family and friends
    – fireworks
    – went to a party
    – bonfire
    – food

    The man is Andy Murray’s brother in law. He is the youngest person to reach the South Pole solo.
    Here are some of our resolutions:
    – cook more
    – loose weight
    – read more
    – be kinder
    – be more helpful
    – think of others more
    – work hard

    We though to quit smoking was the number one resolution but it was to read more.

  2. Year 4 says:

    Here are some of the resolutions that have been made by Year 4 this year:
    -Stop chewing my jumper
    -Stop shouting at my brother
    -Stop biting my finger nails
    -Stop picking my nose!
    -Stop hurting my brother
    -Stop eating sweets and chocolates for January
    -Keep my bedroom tidy
    -Do my meditation
    -Ignore people who distract me
    -Put Playstation discs back in their boxes when I’ve finished using them
    -Read more books

    We thought that the Number One resolution would be adults choosing to have a ‘Dry January’ as a few our a parents are choosing to do this.

    We learnt that Epiphany is celebrated by Christians in January (after Christmas). We talked about the journey the wise men would have taken by camel to meet baby Jesus. We made the realisation that this journey would have possibly taken them a long time, therefore visiting Jesus perhaps a couple of weeks after he was born in Bethlehem.

  3. Year 1 says:

    Zunnurain celebrated the new year with fireworks. Freddie, Harry T and Maisie went to a party at the village hall. Lee celebrated with a meal at the Harvester with his family. Oscar had a family party and they had party poppers at midnight. Sebastian had a party at his house. Ellie had a party with her family and friends at her house and they watched the fireworks in London on the television.
    Our resolutions are
    – brushing my teeth twice a day (Lee)
    -Getting better at writing (Finley)
    -Stop getting cross and stay calm (Dexter)
    -Stop eating sweets (Riley)
    -Trying to be a good role model for her sister (Ava)
    -Stop biting my nails (Leah)
    -Give up chocolate and sweets (Charlie)

    Year 1 thought that eating healthily and keeping fit was the number one resolution!

  4. Class3 says:

    Year 3 talked about how they celebrated the start of the new year. Some of them watched the celebrations on the television and joined in the count down to the start of the new year. They heard Big Ben chime and watched the firework display. we talked about how people in different parts of the world celebrate it at different times.
    We have been thinking about our goals this year especially what we need to work on in class. Here are some of them:
    – Improve my handwriting
    – To listen and concentrate in class
    – Put finger spaces in between words
    – Play nicely at playtime
    – Learn my timestables
    This week at home, we are going to think about what our goals are going to be for home. Visit the Year 3 Blogs later on next week.

  5. Year 2 says:

    All of us in Year 2 celebrated 2018 with our families. Some of us went to parties and some of us watched fireworks.
    In Year 2 we talked about resolutions and what they are. Jacob explained that a resolution is deciding to stop a bad habit or start a new good habit!

    Ava wants to start learning how to ride a horse!
    Hannah would like to be more kind to her sister and share some of her toys and books.
    Adah is going to try and not annoy her brother Ethan so much!
    Zachary want to make his artwork even better.
    Riley wants to play more with his brother and spend time together.
    James wants to make more effort to play nicely with Jacob his brother and not fight!
    Lily wants to try and watch less tv and instead will spend the time with her family.
    Anaya wants to start helping her mum around the house more with chores.
    Megan wants to improve her ballet dancing.
    Dylan wants to help his mum make the beds.
    Archie will share his XBOX and other toys with his friends.

    In Year 2 we have different opinions on the MOST important resolution so here are some of our thoughts:
    * no more bullying
    * spending time with the family
    * being helpful to anyone who needs it
    * making your bed
    * showing kindness to others
    * sharing

    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! X

    Scott Sears who is Andy Murray’s brother-in-law.

    What did he do that is so remarkable?
    He is the youngest man to reach the South Pole alone.

  7. Foundation says:

    The children in Foundation have been thinking carefully about their goals for this year. We have had a wide range of ideas, from keeping bedrooms (and brothers’ bedrooms as well!) tidy, to learning to ride scooters and bikes without stabilisers, reading big books and colouring in more neatly. The children have each made a medal and taken it home so that they can be awarded it when they achieve their goal. We talked about being like Terry the tortoise and persevering even if something is tricky, we know the children will be successful with so much support from home and school and we look forward to hearing all of the success stories! Lots of children were asleep at midnight at New Year, but were woken up by the noise of the fireworks. Some children went to see friends and family and spent time celebrating and watching fireworks in their gardens. Happy New Year everybody!
