The thing that the pictures all have in common is that they are all at the beginning of something.

We are going to make the most of our new beginning by:
    -being more organised
-working really hard in the school football team
    – trying hard to not get distracted in lessons
    – working hard this year
    – ensuring that I have good attendance
    – being resilient

    JOURNEYS:
    – Devon, the butterfly farm, Spain, Finland, the Safari Park, Conkers, Russia, Center Parks, Isle of White, Florida, Bournemouth, Cornwall
-At school we are going to Boggle Hole and Coventry Cathedral.

    CHALLENGE
It is important to believe in yourself because:
    -this will help your confidence
-you can’t do things well if you don’t believe you can

    Year 5 says:
The pictures all show that it is a new start, just like our new school year.

We are going to make the most of our new beginning by:
    -Listening carefully in lessons
    – Trying hard with our homework
    – Persevering in all of our lessons and with spellings
    – Ensuring we all have good attendance
    – Working hard in our sports clubs

    Journey:
    – Cornwall, Lyme Regis, Menorca, Cinema, Rhodes, Drayton Manor, spending time with family, Scotland, Wales, Zipworld, Pontins, Peak District, Portugal, Devon, Holland, Brean, Newcastle.
    – At school we will go to Boggle Hole

    Challenge:
It is important to believe in yourself because it pushes your confidence. Year 5 think that if you don’t believe in yourself it will be difficult to achieve things.

  3. Year 2 says:

Year 2 talked about our new class and what things this year are the same and different. The pictures are showing the start of new things like a new race and a new butterfly. We enjoyed our first assembly this year with Miss Mason.

    In Year 2 we are going to try and;
    * follow the class rules
    * share our toys
    * have kind hands and help our friends
    *learn our spellings every week
    *always listen to Miss Payne

Some children in our class traveled to Spain, France and America. Lots of us went to the beach and also traveled to visit families who live far away. This year in our class we are going to travel to the castle, to the park and to the garden centre.

It is important to believe in yourself so that you feel good. Also if you believe you can do it you get things done. Every person is important and we all have to believe in ourselves say Year 2!

  4. Year 1 says:

All the pictures show the start or beginning of something. We are all excited to be starting off a new school year in year 1 and we have already talked about trying hard in everything we do and making sure we do our best at all times.

Year 1 had some amazing holidays and travelled to Wales, Scotland, Devon, Cornwall and also to places further afield in Spain, Italy and Lanzarote. We all had a great summer.

Year 1 will be making a journey to St James’s Church for the Journey to the Stable near Christmas. This is a brilliant morning when we recall the journey Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem.

Believing in yourself is very important and it helps you to succeed and achieve your goals and dreams.

  5. Year 3 says:

Year 3 talked about the different journeys they went on during the summer holidays. These were all about where they had been. We talked about the journeys we will be going on in Year 3. Cadbury World, the museum, the golf festival and to Solihull Town Centre. We talked about the journeys which we will have in our classroom which are all about our learning. Our journey in our writing will be about how we learn new skills to help us improve our writing. Another journey will be in maths and how we will learn lots of new concepts. We then talked about the journeys we will make in the other subjects as well.
We must stay on the right track and believe we can achieve all the challenges we face in our journey to reach the end!

Year 4 shared their goals for the new school year:
Oliver said that he is going to try and reach diamond more often.
Sophie wants try EVEN harder than she normally does.
George said he is going to try to get more star of the week awards.
Nathan is going to be kind to others.
Kai said that he’s going to stop talking in lessons.
Rylee wants to stop being silly at the wrong times.
Jamie said that he’s going to read more books.

Lots of Year 4 had been on journeys during their holiday to:
The Forest of Dean, France, Drayton Manor, Somerset, Devon and many more.

They are now looking forward to their upcoming journeys to Sherwood Forest and other school trips. We also talked about the different learning journeys that we will go on – some collective, some individual.

Year 4 commented that if you don’t believe in yourself, you’ll stay right where you are. But if you do believe in yourself, you can achieve anything you put your mind to! We went on to talk about our future dream jobs.

  7. Foundation says:

The children carefully looked at the pictures and with a little support could see the common link of ‘new’. Noor-Ul told us that he had some new chicks too, just like in the picture and Charlie T told us all about his new baby sister.
We then talked about our new friends and teachers at school and that staying for the whole day was definitely new! The children are working hard to learn the new rules and routines and they are trying their best to share all of our lovely toys.

When talking about journeys the children told each other about places they had been in the summer and the different methds of transportation they used to get there. Zach told us about his trip on a train to the forest and how he also went on a boat, then came back again. Max said that he went to Cornwall on an aeroplane and that he went to the beach.

Well done Foundation 2 for a great first week. An exciting new school year lies ahead!
