  1. Year 2 says:

In Year 2 today we started by writing what we are successful at and put them in our special jars. Each time we are successful in something at school or home then we will add it to our jars.
We also talked about our goals and dreams, things we want to get better at. We wrote them on special ribbons to put up in the classroom.
We talked about failure and how this made J.K Rowling a famous person who wrote the Harry Potter stories. Miss Payne told us how her failures in publishing made her a better writer. Ellis told us about Harry Kane the footballer who had to work hard to get to play for Tottenham Hotspur. He would have had to work hard and had failures on the way before being successful.
Katie’s dream was to play for England Rugby Team. She eventually got her dream and found success! Milly remembered that she won 17 caps.
The team Hoyt video is about a poorly man who had to have everything done for him and his father had to help him. He helped him ride a bike and go swimming. His dad pushed the wheelchair for him. Even though it was hard he managed his dream with help from his father.
We really enjoyed this topic today!!

  2. Year 5 says:

    Year 5 says:

What are your dreams and goals for the future?
In Year 5 we have many different dreams and goals. Some examples of these are:

What was Katie’s dream? What is Katie’s next goal?
Katie’s dream was to play rugby for the England squad. Katie’s next goal is to represent England in a rugby game in Australia this Easter.

What did you think of the Team Hoyt video and their achievement?
We thought that it was very kind and emotional for his Dad to help him achieve his dream. This video shows that you can do anything with hard work, perseverance and determination.

    CHALLENGE:
The five lessons of failure are:
    1) Experience
    2) Personal Growth
    3) Knowledge
    4) Resilience
    5) A Bigger Picture

From our failures we have learned that we don’t become good at something overnight. Things take time and require lots of hard work and resilience. We also don’t think you should be afraid to say you can’t do something YET. If you fail the first time, try and try again.

  3. Year 1 says:

Year 1 had lots of dreams and goals for their futures. Sebastian wants to be a rugby player. Dexter wants to play football for Birmingham City. Haris wants to be a cricketer player. Year 1 were impressed when they watched the video of team Hoyt. They were happy that the man’s father helped him to overcome his difficulties and support his dream to take part in a Triathlon.

The children talked about failure and how important it was to learn from failure and not give up but to keep trying to achieve your goal.

  4. Foundation says:

In foundation we talked about what we could achieve. Mrs Norris said how she would like to get a lot healthier this year and Mrs Turner said that she needed to stop eating cake! Last week the foundation children made medals with their goals for 2018 to take home.
We talked about what we could achieve as a team/class and Ben Brooke suggested we could tidy up a lot faster. Other suggestions were working together, helping and being kind to one another and reading a lot more at home.

Katie was a rugby player who dreamed of playing for England at Easter. Katie achieved her goal.

Year 3 talked a lot about times they failed when playing their favourite sports. We discussed how just because you fail at something the first time, doesn’t mean you cannot try again and get better. Lucas said he used to fail to sing well but he is now a brilliant singer because he has tried hard at it.

    Team Hoyt & their achievement:
We think that Team Hoyt was an inspiring story about a boy who was unwell. He has an amazing dad who supported him and believed in him. This enabled him to achieve his goals and dreams.

    Failure
Our failures have helped us to become resilient because they have enabled us to carry on and not give up. We know you have to have failures in order to become successful.

  7. Year 4 says:

ear 4 loved hearing about the different dreams and goals of the teachers. Mrs Gibson always dreamed of playing the piano and she had to work hard, practising regularly. Mr Seale has a goal of becoming a Maths Teacher one day. Mrs Olsen dreams of making cakes in a cake shop by the sea.

    WHAT WE’VE LEARNED ABOUT FAILURE:
We’ve learned that although failure is very disappointing at the time, they come and go (like a bad bruise). They also help you to grow stronger and make you persevere even more, therefore they can be very worthwhile! Ella explained that she and Darcy had experienced some failure at their first Netball Club, but are looking forward to practising and improving their skills. Jacob told us about his failure and frustrations when trying to body board but he’s still determined to keep trying!
