  1. Lily Ellis yr5 says:

It is good to be different because if we were all the same then it would be like robots it would be boring. Some friends like football some friends don’t.

  2. Amelie says:

It’s good to be different because if were all the same then we would be just like robots and all of us will like the same things and do the same things and were ever we go they will go to to it would be a boring old world. But it is not like that and all of us like different things like gymnastics, football, netball, dance and basketball.

  3. Year 1 says:

The children thought it was important to celebrate differences because it would be boring if we were all the same. They gave lots of ideas about how they are different. Amelia said we all have different skin colour. Haris said we have different eye colours. Nathan said we all have different hobbies or things we like doing. Luke said we all like different foods. Then we talked about how we were similar. Ava said that we all come to Cheswick Green school, we are all in Year 1. Charlie said we all wear a school uniform which is the same colour.

Year 1 remembered lots of interesting facts about the animals. Chloe told us that sharks lay eggs. Imogen told us that honey bees have hair over their eyes. Toby said that Zebras all have different stripes. Ava said that tigers have striped fur and skin underneath. Zunnurain knew that a dolphin sleeps with one eye open and one eye shut.

Lee told us that we wear poppies to remember those who died during war times. He also said that it was important that we never forget them and that was why we have Remembrance Day every year.

  4. Foundation says:

In the classroom we looked at our friends and noticed their hair colour and eye colour and what uniform they were wearing. We noticed that some of these things were the same and that some were different. Finley said, “We are only one, no one else is one the same.” We thought that this was a clever way to describe how each of us is ‘unique’. We know that we are all different and that we are part of the Foundation team. We help each other when we get stuck, we also share our good ideas. Later this week we will be taking a closer look at how we have changed since we were babies and if there is anything that is still the same.

  5. Year 6 says:

We think it is important to celebrate differences because:
    – if we were all the same life would be really boring.
    – it is good to be different so we need to celebrate it.
    – we need to teach people that differences are good things.

Here are some examples of the ways we are different to our friends:
    – we like different sports.
    – we are different ages.
    – we are good and bad at different things.
    – we are different heights.
    – some of us are from different countries.
    – we have different likes and dislikes.

Here are some examples of the ways we are the same as our friends:
    – we are all in Year 6.
    – we are all human.
    – we all have families that love and support us.
    – we all have the weekend off school.

Interesting facts we remember about how animals are very different to each other:
    – snails sleep for 4 years.
    – slugs have four noses.
    – dolphins sleep with one eye open.
    – zebras have different stripes.
    – tigers have stripes on their skin.
    – honey bees have hair on their eyes.

    CHALLENGE:
People wear poppies to remember those that gave their lives in war. The reason poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in battle is because they are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended.

It is important because they gave their today for our tomorrow so we need to remember them and be thankful for what they did.

  7. Year 3 says:

In year 3, we think it is important to celebrate differences because it would be boring if everyone was the same and it would be strange because we would all have the same names and the same personalities! Because of our differences, we are able to achieve and excel at different things in life.
We all have different voices. Aaliyaah has brown hair and Joe has white hair. Will is a boy and Mili is a girl. We all have different colour eyes. We all know different things and are good at different subjects.
We are all human. We all have eyes and noses and mouths. In year 3 we all have a home and we all come to school. We are all good at some things and we all find something tricky.

    CHALLENGE:
We wear poppies to remember the soldiers who died at War. The money we donate goes to help the families of ex service men and those who lost their lives at War. Some our families from the past fought in the World Wars and it is importnat to remember them

  8. Year 2 says:

    Hello!
In year 2 we talked about how Megan and Sam were the same! We also talked about how Adah and James were different! We think it is important that everyone IS different. Freya said that if everyone was the same then life would be boring! Isla said she likes being different to her friends because otherwise it would be boring. Milly likes being not the same because it makes her unique.
Demi has reminded us that Remembrance Day is coming up and we wear poppies to remember the people who fought in previous wars to protect us and keep us free. In year 2 we have bought slap bands, poppy reflectors and bracelets and normal poppies to wear to remind us.

  9. Year 4 says:

Year 4 enjoyed learning about the fascinating animal facts. Here are some that they remembered:
    -Slugs have 4 noses!
    -Bees have 5 eyes!
-Dolphins sleep with only 1 eye closed!
-Snails can sleep for 4 years!
-Honey Bees have hairs on their eyes.
    -Sharks have the biggest eggs.
-Hippos can run faster than humans.
-Both the skin and the fur of a tiger, is striped.

There are lots of poppies being worn by children and teachers at school. We’ve also see poppies being worn by many people we see at the shops. We’ve been learning about symbols in R.E this week. The poppies are a symbol to remember those brave soldiers who have given their lives in war. We should never forget them. Poppies were the are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended.
