I think he wrote a diary so that other people could learn about the great fire of London.

The fire was really big, and carried along by winds. In Australia there are lots of fires at the moment, lots of people have had to evacuate. If I was in a fire I would run away as quick as possible and call 999, but in the great fire of London they didn’t have big fire engines.

I would save my ball and my pillow from a fire.

I know that it started in a bakery on Pudding Lane and it burned for 4 days. The fire spread because it was windy and the houses were very close together and made of wood. I think Samuel Pepys wrote a diary because he liked writing down his thoughts. If I had seen the great fire I would have been terrified. I would have saved my fossils and my geodes.
