  1. Year 1 says:

Year 1 enjoyed Rev Vicki’s assembly and learning all about St Peter. They remembered that St Peter was Jesus’s friend. They said St Peter is often holding keys in pictures. They said that Peter dreamed about a sheet falling from heaven. Inside the sheet was a lobster, snake and a pig. A voice in his dream said he could eat the food. Zeb said that St Peter showed respect so he was allowed to eat the food.
We talked about showing respect to others in the way we behave and live our lives. Milly said that showing respect was good as others should show you respect too.

  2. Year 4 says:

Yea 4 enjoyed rev Vicki’s assembly. They said it was all about St Peter and how he dreamt that a sheet fell from the heaven and in the sheet was a pig, lobster and snake. The voice in his dream said he could eat the animals as they were food and as he had been respectful, he was allowed to. We had a conversation in Year 4 about what we think respect is.
We talked about popular sports like football and swimming and pupils spoke about how they see themselves as athletes in various different ways.

  3. Mia says:

St peter is often holding keys in pictures, that a sheet falling from heaven with all the food that he can’t eat like pig. It reminds us about respect. Athleticism is the physical qualities that are characteristic of athletes, such as strength, fitness, and agility. I am athletics because I walk my dog go on bike rides swimming and I love running. The most popular sport is swimming, no not really.

  4. s14jhine says:

Year 5 listened carefully in our assembly. We knew that St. Peter was responsible for letting people into heaven and that is why he is often depicted holing keys. The dream in which St. Peter speaks to God symbolises that St Peter was special, he had shown great respect to god and was allowed to eat foods that Jewish people are not usually allowed to eat.

We talked about athleticism only being possible if we show respect. To be truly athletic you must listen to coaches and parents that help you.

We were surprised by some sports that are athletic but we wouldn’t automatically think of as particularly athletic. for example: Golf, fencing archery, cricket and badminton.

St peter is often pictured holding keys because he was responsible for letting people into heaven. St Peter dreamt about foods that Jewish people were told they couldn’t eat, his dream was to show that they should let anyone learn about Jesus even if they didn’t follow the Jewish food laws.

I was glad that bowls was in the top ten sports as i play bowls and enjoy it, it is often not considered a sport.

  9. Grace y6 says:

In most pictures st Peter is holding two keys because he is known to let the right people into heaven. St Peter had a dream where he was talking to God about how St Peter was special and he had always been respectful to him even though when Jesus went to prison Peter said three times that he did not Know who Jesus was.I thought the prayer meant that always let people in and always help other people whether they are in trouble or simply a nice person.

  16. Foundation says:

The children in Foundation had not heard this story before and they thought that in his dream he was told not to eat the animals. The children thought that he should not eat them because were not healthy and that they might bite him. The children went on to suggest that St. Peter should eat chicken and fish as they are healthier. We will read the story together in the classroom to help the children with their understanding.

  17. Year 2 says:

In Year 2 we talked about the prayer. We talked about how important it is to LISTEN to people properly. SOmetimes when someone is talking to us we are not really listening. We should look at someone when they are talking and maybe nod or reply to something they said. If we are doing something else while they are talking sometimes it is rude.

The prayer also talks about the ‘Golden Rule’ – treating other people the way we want to be treated. We talked about why it is called the Golden Rule.

We finished circle time by talking about sports and being a good athlete. We shared our favourite sports. Also we are looking forward to sports day which is always lots of fun and our mums and dads get to come and cheer us on! And after we get ice cream!!

  18. Year 3 says:

Year 3 enjoyed listening to the story of St Peter and remembered that St Peter was in charge of letting people into heaven. Year 3 talked about the 3 animals in the sheet and discussed what meat they liked to eat. We also talked in class about what respect means to us. We said it was important that we listen to each other and take on board each other’s points of view. Year 3 know that respect is so important because then we know that everybody will get along in 3C if we show respect.
