Breathing is important because if you dont breathe you will not live.

  2. Lily says:

Adults breathe 12 – 20 times per minute. Breathing is important as if we didnt breathe we could die. It was realxing when you just focus on your breathing. You breathe an average of 17,000-30,000 breaths a day.

Older children ad adults breathe 12-20 time in a minute. If you didn’t breath then you will not survive. When I concentrate on my breathing I am calmer. We get the oxygen to our cells with the respiratory system and by breathing. We breathe in using a muscle called the diaphragm. It flattens out making our lungs expand and fill with air. When we breathe in, air gets forced through our nose or mouth, down our windpipe and in a tube and then in our lungs.

  4. Year 4 says:

The quote of Marcus Aurelius – Daisy suggested that it’s reminding us how good it is to be alive and Tianna-Mae thought that it’s reminding us to be grateful for our lives and our health.

Adults breathe approximately 12-20 breaths a minute.

When the children concentrated on their breathing, Ronika said that she felt calm and relaxed and Blake said it felt nice and made him happy. Good breathing makes us healthier in mind and in body.

Year 4 learned a lot from the assembly and found it really interesting.

  5. Foundation says:

The children in Foundation have practised mindful breathing before and are very good at it! The children became still, sat up staright and concentrated on the sensation of their breath. When they finished breathing mindfully they were calm and alert and were very interested to find out about how the lungs and the heart work together to provide oxygen to their bodies.
When we watched the video about keeping our lungs healthy some children told me that a relative smoked but that they do not go near them. The adults keep the children safe by telling them to not breath in the smoke and to move away.
We know that exercise and looking after the environment to keep the air clean help us to have healthy lungs.

  6. Year 1 says:

The children enjoyed watching the powerpoint. They practised mindful breathing for a minute and said that it made them feel happy, peaceful and calm. They also said they liked the quiet all around them as it helped them to clear their mind. Jacob told us it is good to fill your lungs with oxygen as it helps the blood flow around your body and then breathe out the stale air.
We also talked about being thankful and pleased that we can breathe well and enjoy the world that we live in.

  7. Year 2 says:

We have enjoyed this in Year 2 this week and are practicing breathing in a mindful way. We listen to music too!
Breathing properly is very important as it keeps our bodies healthy. Slow, deep breathing also calms you down after you have been in a fight with your friends. It gives you time to think. We are going to try breathing slowly at home too just before we go to sleep to help relax.
