  1. Year 6 says:

Year 6 discussed trust and what it means.

Tianna-Mae says it is being able to depend on someone and Lily says it is when you can rely on someone.
Phoebe trusts all of her family and friends.
Eve trusts her parents, brothers and her sister.
    Jacob S trusts his dog.

In the story the wife went to see the wise woman because her husband came back from working abroad and he wasn’t speaking to her. The wise woman told her to get a whisker from the tiger who lived in the highest mountain in the darkest cave.
The wife slowly built up trust with the tiger and eventually was able to grab a whisker after 8 days.
The wise woman threw the whisker in the fire when the wife returned.
The wife was furious but the wise woman explained that her patience had brought success. This was how she could make things right with her husband again – by being patient.

Year 6 think that a trustworthy friend will not repeat something that has been shared in trust. Also, a trustworthy friend is a kind friend who will not hurt others.
They care for you and will defend you when needed.

  2. Foundation 2 says:

We enjoyed the story of the Tigers Whiskers. Miss Wilson told us that just like the tiger – trust is something that builds up over time. We trust our parents/carers, because they feed, clothe and keep us safe.

Holly told us that Trust is when someone gets to know you better and you start to trust them – just like the tiger started to trust the lady.

Isaac told us that he trusts his mummy and daddy because they look after him.

We talked in Foundation about our friends and why we trust them. Both Sebby and Holly told us about their friends and how they trust them because they always play their game, as they always know they will always play by the rules and are gentle.

  3. Year 1 says:

Trust is ‘when you believe in someone’ (Edward)
Trust is ‘if you can count on someone’ (William)
Trust is ‘someone who is honest’ (Matthew)
Trust is ‘somebody you can rely on that won’t let you down’ (Reuben)
Trust is ‘when you promise someone you will do something and you keep your promise’ (Alex)

In year 1 all the children gave me a response to who they trust – Mum, Dad, their brothers and sisters, Nan and Grandad, the Doctor, my cousin, my dogs, my teachers and my friends.

Year 1 loved the story of the Tiger’s Whisker. Edward told us that the wifw went to the wise woman of the village because her husband wouldn’t talk to her. William said that her advice was to climb the highest mountain and the darkest cave and get a tiger’s whisker. Elliot described how the wife had to be patient and each day she gave the tiger meat getting closer to it each time she fed it until eventually the tiger took the meat out of the wife’s hand.
Libby said she built up the trust of the tiger. Max said she had to be brave and careful. Reuben said she had to be patient.
Eventually she succeeded in getting a tiger’s whisker.

Noor-Ul said that his friends show they are trustworthy by keeping their promises. Charlie said he can count on his friends. Edward said his friends are kind and helpful. Alex said his friends are always honest and tell the truth.

Everyone in year 1 understands that trust takes time and has to be earned!

  4. Mrs Arnold says:

Year 4 talked about trust and resilience. We talked about what it means to trust someone and how we can build relationships which are based on trust.

We loved the story of ‘The Tiger’s whisker’ and discussed what that the wife went to see the wise woman because her husband came back from working abroad. The wise woman told her to get a whisker from the tiger who lived in the highest mountain in the darkest cave. We spoke about how she needed to gain the trust of the tiger in order to get what she wanted.
